I would like if media were grayed out when on mobile data, and allow me to select and play those over mobile data if desired.
Problem solved
Sometimes on mobile data I am willing to use data to play a specific song and the automatic switch to offline only hiding songs entirely prevents me from doing that without changing settings.
Brought benefits
This would allow me more flexibility without compromising data usage avoidance.
If I’m understanding your request correctly, the “Offline Status indicator” can be used for exactly this. You’ll be able to see which songs are not already downloaded so that you know it will require data/WiFi to play a song.
Settings > Interface > Media lists > Show offline status overlay
As far as automatically hiding songs when offline, I think that is controlled by:
Settings > Offline, cache, and download > General > Automatic offline mode
Make sure that your source filter options are also set correctly.
Source Filter (the funnel icon on Home page) > Uncheck the “Hide media…” options
This does indeed sound like what I’m looking for, but after enabling the offline status overlay and disabling the filter, albums and tracks that are not downloaded reappear but do not have any visible differences.
I’m not entirely sure what they look like, since all my media is local. I stole this picture from the Discord, which I think is the overlay in question.
Yeah that’s close but not quite what I want given that this is an album centric view. I often have part of an album available for offline listening. I’d like to be able to see which songs are cached and which ones will require a download.
