I love the Android app and recognize that I should be able to use Chromecast to my Google TV, but after several songs playing it stops. I don’t have that issue when Chromecasting to speakers, etc. I read in another topic that there may be a setting in Dev tools to keep it awake and that may help. However, that was in 2022 (Chromecast Google Tv - Plex Music Playback does not prevent Chromecast from powering down - #6 by Tolriq) and you mentioned that a Google TV app may be in available in the future, so I was just curious if this is still on the radar?
Problem solved:
A direct application on Google TV rather than Chromecast would solve chromecast issues and also deliver better sound quality.

I would like to second this request for Symfonium to work on Google TV. I realise that Chromecast does work, but I prefer having the full UI on the big screen. I used to have Symfonium installed on an Android box attached to my TV and it worked really well. I used a bluetooth keyboard/touchpad and it was a really enjoyable experience. I have now got a Google TV and was disapointed to see I couldn’t install Symfonium from the Google Play Store.
Is it a lot of work to get this availiable for Google TV? Does a new version need to be created or is some sort of compliance application on the Play Store?
You post on the wrong one, but yes it’s compliance with Play Store the issue, they reject the app is any single button is not accessible via track pad or if the focus order is wrong in any screen and many other rules.
This basically means that I need to check and update every single screens and hope they do not find other things, and once the validation is started it can take months for an app like Symfonium and during that time I can no more push updates to the normal app or the wear.
This is a pain. You can sideload the apk there and already start listing the things that does not work with a track pad, so I can make adjustement from time to time, but official Play Store release is very very far away.
Hi Tolriq, sorry for posting on the wrng one. I saw it said duplicate but I could not see a link to the post this is duplicate of, or find what is duplicate in a search.
Thanks for the quick reply. I understand, play store compliance. Is annoying they are so harsh and locked down about this. This is why there are so few apps on the store for Google TV
I will have a go at trying to spot non compliance for us. What is meant by “any single button is not accessible via track pad”. Why would things need to be accessible by a trackpad on a TV? I would have thought they only wanted to check everything is accessible via TV remote control.
Can you give some guidance on what to test for exactly.
Thanks again.
p.s. and also a link to the original feature request so I can update there.
