Flaky behaviour scrobbling songs to Jellyfin

Issue description:

Hi, I use the last.fm plugin on my Jellyfin instance, and when listening to a song on loop on Jellyfin, it correctly scrobbles each loop as you would expect. (Last.fm will show that I’m listening to the song right now and track each loop)

However, when listening to a song on loop on Symfonium, Last.fm will show that I’m listening to the song right now, before disappearing and not tracking the scrobble, eventually showing that I’m not listening to anything and tracking none of the loops. Sometimes last.fm will randomly show that I listened to a loop, but it’s very peculiar and not accurate whatsoever.

I understand this is more of an issue with Symfonium communicating to my Jellyfin instance rather than anything to do with last.fm, but I don’t know of a better way to explain what’s going on  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update

I’ve noticed that it isn’t just when looping songs but all songs in normal playback. I do not know when this issue started happening, but I know that scrobbling used to work perfectly at some point.

Duplicate of many this is a plugin issue, some plugins offer an alternative way to measure the playcounts that needs to be enabled.

I cannot find a duplicate issue of this scenario. I am connected to the internet during the entire period of listening to music, and I am using the last.fm Jellyfin plugin. I am unsure of why they are not being scrobbled using the Symfonium app while other apps do not have this issue.

The last.fm plugin for Jellyfin does not provide any additional options of the sort. To me, this appears to be an issue with Symfonium, opposed to my setup. Perhaps it could be related to songs in my rolling cache not being communicated to my Jellyfin instance by the Symfonium app?

I would like to reiterate, this is a new issue for me, one that I did not have prior to a few weeks ago. I have not updated my Jellyfin instance or its plugins, and I theorise it is related to the Symfonium app which I have updated a few times since, and have recently enabled various caching features.

For example.

Symfonium properly send the data, Not able to scobble when Playing through 3rd Party Apps · Issue #55 · jesseward/jellyfin-plugin-lastfm · GitHub if that’s the plugin you use it decide to not support that data.

Nothing have changed in Symfonium.

GitHub - FoxxMD/multi-scrobbler: Scrobble plays from multiple sources to multiple clients works as supporting the data.

Oh wow… that’s incredibly strange since I use several external clients without issue, such as Feishin, which is still working perfectly as I speak. I promise that even Symfonium was working when I first purchased it (and according to my last.fm history, it was working even a few weeks ago), but thank you for sharing that. I’ll try multi-scrobbler and report back.
