Feedback about the TV app

App version

Production

Issue description

The below feedback can be seen in the video I uploaded under the name “Symfonium on TV.mp4”:

I setup the app by using the backup I created previously on my phone, since I already customized the app over there and I want the same customization on TV.

As you already know, Android for TV doesn’t have a native file picker, so we have to rely on third party apps for that purpose.

I use a file manager app called “My File” available at the Play Store for TV which allows to pick files from the internal storage, therefore, I use it to select the backup. There are other options such as Ultimate File Manager and MiXplorer Silver.

When I select the backup file, the app asks for the password (00:11) I enter the password and click on open.

The app asks to grant permission to the “Music” folder since that’s the folder I use on my phone to read the music files, therefore, I click on “grant” and repeat the same steps to select the folder music by using the “My File” app. The problem is, for some reason Symfonium is not recognizing this and it enters into a loop.

What I do is to press back on the remote control and repeat the same steps again but in the screen that appears previously I turn off the “media providers” toggle and click on restore.

The backup also has an SMB setting already saved and that’s what loads in the main screen of the app.

The other issue here is I can’t move inside the inner panel, I can only move through the options on the side and at the top so it is not possible to play music.

I don’t know if a log is necessary as this is more like a UI design bug rather than a playback issue, if you still need a log let me know.

Do it again without restoring the backup and you’ll be able to navigate correctly.

I had the same problem and it’s because the theme for your phone isn’t compatible with the Android TV build.

Is that so?, that’s a bummer, it’s a hassle having to customize the app on TV, hence why I wanted to use the backup instead.

I also notice that some customization parts didn’t load, such as the now playing screen, it doesn’t appear the same as I customize it on my phone.

There is also missing the clear queue button.
