Expand the option to include/exclude tracks from personal mixes

Feature description:

I regularly use the option to exclude tracks from my personal mixes but this is a long process when I need to apply it to lots of tracks. It would be nice if I could include / exclude entire albums and artists at a time.

Problem solved:

This would save time for bulk items.

Brought benefits:

Beyond saving people time, I think this would make the interface more intuitive. I find it slightly confusing how I can complete an action for individual tracks, but not the same action for multiple tracks at the same time.

This has come up several times. The approach up to date is to use Smart Playlists as it allows you to exclude / include whatever you want with as many or as little filters as you desire

Thanks for the reply! Please correct me if I’m misunderstanding, but I don’t think how you described using Smart Playlists fully covers my use case. I’m already using a Smart Playlist, but only with a filter that excludes tracks I’ve manually marked with the “exclude from personal mixes” tag.

To explain how I currently use Symfonium, I run a Navidrome server with music for myself and my family. Most of the time I listen through manually created playlists, which works great. Occasionally though, I’ll play music outside of playlists. I used to use Track Mix for this, but because my server includes a lot of music meant for other family members, it often queued tracks I wasn’t interested in. I solved that by creating a Smart Playlist that includes everything except tracks I’ve marked as excluded from personal mixes. This works well, but tagging everything manually will take a long time, and it’s easy to miss individual tracks since I can’t apply the exclude tag to entire albums or artists at once.

I’ve looked into adding Smart Playlist filters for albums or artists, but I don’t think that approach is practical for large libraries. As far as I can tell, the filters have to be entered as text. That means I’d either need to remember a lot of album titles or keep switching back and forth between the album view and the filter screen. The album list in the filter screen is helpful, but since it only shows album names, I still need to remember which albums belong to which artists. I’d also worry that if two albums or artists with the same name then I would not be able to filter one of them and not the other.

Because of this, I still believe the addition of being able to apply the exclude tag directly from an album or artist screen (or being able to update Smart Playlist filters from the album screen would be a suitable alternative) would simplify the process.

Most people use multiple libraries when they don’t listen to the same things.

Exclude from mix is for the tracks you don’t like, in your library, if you want to exclude half your library that’s not the right tool.

Navidrome allows Libraries. Im also in same situation, and, don’t want to hear kids music or Christmas music. I have a user and different Libraries for that user. This way you can create smart playlist to include/exclude what ever Libraries you want. As a bonus you can also hide those Libraries in Symfonium UI, if for example your in a situation that those Libraries should be temporarytotally ignored. For example ar work.
