Hi, before I open a feature request I just wanted to ask if the functionality already exists and I just didn’t find it.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
I’d like for my playlists to start randomly when I press on the “play” button on a playlist or the playlist overview.
Currently I can save the playback behavior, so that it’s always on “shuffle”, but the playlist still always starts with the top song. I can open every playlist and manually change the “sort content” option, but I’d actually like to have the playlist sorted like it always is, just to have it start shuffled when I click on “play”.
Is there already such an option that I didn’t find or should I open a feature request?
Can you not just… Press the Shuffle button instead of Play?
If it’s not there, check to make sure you haven’t hidden it in Settings > Interface > Playlist page > Hidden buttons
You can also drag and drop to shuffle from the list of playlists
Yes, that is possible, but I have all my favourite playlists on my home screen and I like starting them from there.
The dragging is not an option for me, because I also want to switch playlists when riding my motorcycle (I know I shouldn’t) and while tapping on the “play” button on the playlist item is doable, dragging is not.
I might be the only one having this issue, but it would really improve my user experience.
Well those are the two options available currently.
Note that tapping the playlist on Home screen still takes you to the screen in my first image, so it’s just two taps to hit Shuffle.
Third option which I’m sure you also won’t like
would be to have a duplicate playlist. The duplicate can have its order set to Random so that you can just tap Play while the original will still keep the existing sort order.
(Can duplicate by setting a Smart Playlist filter based on “In Playlist” at the bottom of the filters.) There’s a duplicate button.
