For a visual you can essentially type anything that you file path contains to populate a playlist will all files that contain similar “paths” or “filenames”
If you wanted to use a folder for this you just need to type the name of the folder in (without quotes)
In this case my path includes a folder & sub folder
Music &
Downloads (a folder within music)
So i could type either of those values although the results would differ greatly.
My filenames often have “codes” at the end. This one has (NUKE) so i could also create a playlist to grab all files with that “code” in their filename.
Similarly many people add artist names, album names, track numbers ect. to track filenames so those are also bits of info you could use to filter your library or create smart playlists
If you dont know the file path you can find that by browsing your file manager or using the “3dots” more actions menu on any given track to pull up this view which shows the file path at the top
I’m not clear from the UI how to do this still. The steps in this thread do not have the start point or are missing something right at the beginning. I want to use the playlists screen and see an add button, but when I open smart playlist, I see no way to filter by folder today….
Okay the root problem is that where I expected to be able to browse to a folder,
I have to choose smart playlist list type “albums” not choose “tracks”
I have to type in part of the path to the folder exactly, that was not at all clear from the rule dialog, it completely does not talk about wildcards and other things in that dialog.
It is not showing me any files either even though I do have a folder which I typed in exactly as it is, does the folder name need a root?
Q: Does the smart folder support wildcards? Very confusing implementation. And I’m unable to get such a playlist to work after struggling for about 30 minutes now. I can do this in 2 minutes in PodcastAddict, but I want the Symphonium features, but very confused why It’s not letting my just create a playlist. Can I manually create a playlist with tracks somehow? I have 2 folders in my “local” where music lives, is the fact i have 2 folders maybe the real problem here?
