Could we have an option to pause or cancel a long sync?

Feature description

I posted on reddit and a user suggested I may want to post here too.

I recently re-installed Symphonium and needed to do an initial sync of my media servers, including 57k tracks on Google Drive.

Reading the tags and looking up metadata took over 14 hours, the approximate split was 10 hours on eeading the tags and 4 hours on the metadata.

My device, a Samsung S25 Edge, connects through wifi 6 to a fast fibre connection. Perhaps google is throttling the API requests, not sure.

But this is a long sync! While I can just let it chug along on wifi, I also would like the option to pause it (without force stopping the app) if i needed to leave my wifi area and hop onto my phone’s data plan. Or for any other reason.

Problem solved

An option to pause or cancel a sync once it has been started.

Brought benefits

User control over sometimes lengthy background process that can consume massive amounts of data.

If you enable wifi only on the provider it will stop. You can’t pause a sync.

Completely understand that I can use some workarounds like killing the app, blocking it’s wifi or data access either in my settings or in the app.

I also understand that you cannot pause a sync, that’s why it’s a feature request;)

This is a duplicate so no you can’t pause even if you ask data integrity can’t work with a 10 day pause :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll see to add a cancel button, data is cached so you don’t extract tag again or artist info again.

And of course you can backup all that to not loose it on reinstall.

Lovely. Rarely it happens that right after a (successful) manual sync, Symfonium still triggers an automatic sync (I was never able to discern a pattern as to when it happens). Being able to “stop” that superflous sync without disconnecting the wifi will be a nice addition.
