Joking, I respect the opinion, but, for me I actually like to close the the player completely when Im finished listening. I guess its kind of obsolete though. 
I didnt actually know about the long press either and might change the design 
I do often stop with long press, just hate the ugly useless square

This app never fails to amaze me. So many times I wish for a feauter only to discover its already been implemented

Variant 2. I agree it looks more eye pleasing removing the square stop button.

Changed
- Codec and player remaining strings now individual to stop codec from slightly moving left/right when remaining time changes.
- Removed favourite button in track title
- Rearranged some other small things
