When you are playing Track A and you queue up a Track B sometimes it will report Track A being played when you are playing Track B, the result is Track A is reported as played twice. It seems to happen very inconsistently but in a 1-2 hour listening session where you are queuing up different tracks a lot, it will happen once or twice.

This seems like some kind of race condition or something. I’m not sure but it seems like it happens more if you queue the next track close to when the current track is ending. I uploaded 2 logs:

#2 is with debug mode on. After j3ko-scrobble-dupe1, I tried until I could replicate the issue. I queued the song from a different smart playlist but i think it happens if you queue it from anywhere.
Hi j3ko, thanks for the detailed report and both uploads.
The first upload (dupe1) only contained old log lines, but dupe2 was very useful. It shows that at a track change, the “stopped” update for the finished track and the “playing” update for the new one are sent to Plex at almost the same moment, and they don’t always arrive in order. When the old track’s update lands last, Plex can briefly see that track as current again, and Multi-Scrobbler can then count it a second time. This depends on timing, which would explain why you only see it occasionally. I’ve logged this for a fix.
To confirm this matches your duplicates, could you check Multi-Scrobbler for one duplicated scrobble and tell us:
The track title and the time of both scrobbles.
Whether Multi-Scrobbler reads Plex through the Plex API source or through Plex webhooks.
If possible, the Multi-Scrobbler log lines around that time.
If the duplicate happened between about 13:48 and 14:54 on your phone’s clock on Oct 2, the dupe2 log already covers it, so you don’t need to upload anything new.

I think I was wrong about the cause being changing the next track. I wasn’t changing the playlist and the tracks were added by smart queue beforehand.
Hi j3ko, thank you, The Multi-Scrobbler logs together with dupe2 and dupe3 line up with both duplicates.
You’re right that it isn’t about changing the queue. Here’s what happens: at the track change, Plex starts a new session for your phone that is still labelled with the previous song. It keeps that label for the whole next song, even though Symfonium reports the correct new song to Plex throughout. Multi-Scrobbler polls that session, so it counts the previous song a second time, and the song that was actually playing (Even Cowboys Cry in your second case) never gets scrobbled.
I’ll try to change how Symfonium reports track changes to Plex so it can’t leave a session like this behind. You don’t need to send more logs for now.
