Casting no longer works

Issue description:

Hi,

I’ve been casting to my Sonos device for a while now, and its always worked fine. For some reason though, today it no longer works. I’ve tried turning everything, including my phone, router, and the sonos device on and off again, to no avail. The device is found, I press play, then it never plays the song. It loads for a while, then tries playing the next one, so on and so forth.

While I’m here, one thing that also has never worked, is playing 24bit FLAC in Sonos. I know its not supported by Sonos, but could I configure Symfonium to truncate it to 16bit?

You are trying to play offline cached media in opus Sonos does not support that, enable prefer server version in the renderer settings to force getting from server.

And casting to Sonos will work when Deluan implement the OpenSubsonic transcoding extension.

GitHub - epoupon/lms: Lightweight Music Server. Access your self-hosted music using a web interface. already does.

Still doesn’t work. Sent new logs trying to cast with the option enable.

All my files are flac, unless downloading converts them to opus?

You are still casting from the cache have you enabled the prefer offline cached version on the renderer settings ?

And if you transcode it’s opus or if you force transcode server side.

Avoiding creating a new ticket, having the same issue (new user to Symfonium). I understand Sonos doesn’t support Opus.

  • Turn on ‘Transcode to MP3’
  • Turn on ‘Ignore server transcoding settings’
  • Navidrome has no transcoding settings configured

Try to cast music to Sonos speakers and it pauses with nothing further.

Is there anything else obvious I should try? (I tried server side encoding and changing various settings based on support tickets/google).

Uploaded logs: shnookums

Will create a separate ticket if required. Wanting to sort this out before I commit to purchasing (trial ends 4th March 26)

Always open your own issue, the OP here does not care about your issue and is spammed for no reasons

You are trying to play files that are natively opus, until deluan integrate the open subsonic transcoding extension there’s nothing that can be done.

Thanks for the reply (sorry to OP for spam).

Changed my downloads to mp3 and it works as expected.

Note: As a newbie I was confused that ManagedMediaProviders > Subsonic > Transcode to MP3 did not actually transcode from Opus to MP3. Navidrome settings also did not transcode to MP3.
