Can you make the year appear on the label?

Issue description:

When you select an album artist and display a list of the artist’s albums, the album artist’s name is printed on each album label. It’s a waste of space, so it would be helpful if they could also display the release year and sorting reference tags.

Additional information:

There’s no point in having the album artist’s name in this location, so I’d like to see the release year and sort tags.

It’s not useless for collaborative albums or the appears on section, where the album will have a different album artist.

It would be nice to see the year in the cases where the total album artist matches the one you have browsed from, but not at the expense of the information I mentioned in instances where it does not totally match, which is very important for browsing.

I believe I’ve asked tolriq before if we could have both displayed, and he didn’t like the idea. I could be misremembering though, or he feels differently now.

There’s both in list view, there’s no room for both in grids.

I think the way it is now is a good compromise. You can see the year on the main artist view, and the album artist when clicking the header of the album type

Thanks for your answer. It does indeed display the year when I make a list.
That’s it, that’s exactly how I want it to be displayed.
Please, reconsider.
The year display is just four numbers. It doesn’t take up much space.
If there are many artist names, it doesn’t matter if they are cut off.
ABBA, Queen, Michael Jackson, and Justin Bieber all have no space issues when four numbers are added after the name.
I think most artists can benefit from this without running out of space.
Let me help you take that last step to make this software great.

There’s no room for a normal phone screen and configuration

But as said the years are shown when you press an artist an have it’s album list directly.

What is the need to have them on a subscreen where it’s less relevant.

This is a great screen, and that’s exactly what I want to see.
The reason is that it’s the main screen, not a sub one.
It’s not unrelevant at all, the album release year is the most relevant information.
Select the album artist from the top screen, and then select an artist from the artist list to display a list of their albums.
The artwork and album name are there. If only the release year was included, it would be a perfect screen.
If I were to be a bit greedy, I think it would be useful if, when sorting, the sorted list displayed information from the tag referenced by the sort, but for me it would be fine if the year was displayed.
Please, this request is necessary for me.

top display

artist select display

This happens because you have changed the settings …

Why do you skip the artist page that does what you want?
Stop skipping the artist page and see that it does what you want.
