Feature description:
Hi,
Maybe there’s a way to do that? But I didn’t manage to find how. The mix buttons, for a mix of albums, mix of a decade, or a mix of tracks are great (I would prefer a complete random than an intelligent mix, but it’s a personal preference and it doesn’t matter).
I would really like a button that would enqueue and play XXX tracks of the same genre, picked randomly inside that random genre. I created a theme for foobar2000, called eole, I emplemented this function in it, and it’s the function I use the most.
Thanks for reading! Have a great day
Problem solved:
I know that features requests related to playing randomly tracks in a specific way are frequent, and every one have his own personal preference about that. So while I’m hoping that my way will get implemented, I understand that it may be too specific about myself. Maybe the solution would be to create a interface in order to create its own mix button, like the interface to create smart playlist? Much more work, I guess.
Brought benefits:
Re-discover our library genre by genre.
Other application solutions:
EOLE for foobar2000 have this function. The ability to play randomly tracks from a random genre, or to pick a specific genre, and then play randomly tracks from this genre: GitHub - Ottodix/Eole-foobar-theme: Eole blows gently into your ear his nicest melodies.
I guess it’s pointless to install this theme just to try it though, there isn’t anything very special about the implementation UI. Except maybe that with EOLE, when you play randomly tracks/albums/artists/genre/a specific genre, a button appears to launch again the process. You can then press this button until it picks something that you really like.
