Buggy free trial/purchase restore

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that I encountered a slightly confusing situation and maybe this will help others.

I bought the premium version on my smartphone, and a couple days later I tried to also access the app on my tablet. It showed me the “Free trial expired” screen, so I tapped restore Purchases. This caused a red banner to show that it failed. After a few minutes trial and error I just pressed the restart button and I had premium on my tablet too.

So everything is fine now!

I’m writing this here because I couldn’t find anything regarding this in the FAQ linked in the “trial expired” screen, and this may help someone else.

The FAQ have :

• When changing phone, Play Store can have trouble restoring license just after install. Press the purchase button, Play Store should show an error indicating that you already own the item. Just reboot the phone and the license will work.

But from the logs the Play Store does not return any license in the first calls. This is the usual bug they have with some caching issue in the PBL.
