I have a weird issue with my bluetooth headset buttons and I’m not really sure whether I’ve misconfigured anything, but everything seems to be working as should except resuming by touching the ear buds once (OnePlus Earbuds Pro).
I can touch them once to pause a track, but touching them once again does nothing. In the Headset buttons setting I’ve selected the “Play/Pause” action on “Single Click”, but once a track is paused, I have to use my phone to resume manually. The same happens when I take out one earbud, which is meant to trigger a pause (It’s the “Auto play/pause” setting in my OnePlus system settings). If I take out an earbud to talk to someone the music pauses, which is good, but I can’t get it to resume again, once I put it back into my ear.
I assume it’s a system-wide setting that may cause this problem?
Interestingly enough, I can pause via touch and I can also double-touch the earbud to skip to the next track and resume playback.
Any ideas on how to resolve this would be much appreciated. I tend to use my phone to work out with music at my gym and I usually leave my phone in some spot and work out all over the place, it’s a bit of a hassle going back to it all the time to resume playback.
Thanks for taking a look at this so quickly. I think this must be it, they must have somehow messed this up in one of their app updates. I just tried some other audio apps on the phone and it’s the same issue. But it clearly states “Play/Pause” in their app and if you try to change it, it says “This action cannot be edited” and as it’s a OnePlus Phone, it’s somehow baked into their system, maybe I’ll have to try and find a way to disable it.
I’ve found the culprit. I had a third app installed via F-Droid that seems to have interfered with my bluetooth controls, the app “Speaker” is intended to keep the bluetooth audio transmission alive even if no sound is played by constantly transmitting inaudible white noise. It auto-starts once the earbuds are connected.
I have a language learning app installed that intermittently transmits audio, but without the “Speaker” app, the beginning of every sentence is cut off. It seems that with “Speaker” enabled, my bluetooth controls stop working properly. I just froze this app and everything works again as intended.
I had an issue with the start of my Bluetooth output being cut off using my ldac adapter. Enabling the system equaliser (I did it in the Sony app music centre) seems to fix things.
