Feature description
The Android TV app needs an audio passthrough option since it’s incapable of determining what formats are compatible with individual setup. Both my streaming box and receiver are compatible with uncompressed DSF audio files but Symfonium converts them to 192 bitrate Opus which is a massive drop in quality.
Problem solved
Allow playback of audio codecs supported by users equipment but converted anyway or not playable using Symfonium app.
Brought benefits
Kodi, Plex, emby, and Jellyfin all offer audio passthrough on Android TV. Not having that ability makes using Symfonium an inferior alternative.
Other application solutions
Other applications allow audio passthrough as an option for people who have equipment capable of playing a wider variety of formats without conversion.
Device type
Android TV
Additional description and context
The Android TV app feels too much like the phone version of Symfonium. The GUI feels like it’s still made for a touch screen instead of a television and audio passthrough is a basic function since setups vary significantly more than with a smartphone.
