Android Auto empty queue after selecting song in playlist

Issue description:

I open my music playlist from the Android Auto screen, select the song I want to play, and toggle shuffle. I start driving, jamming to the song until it ends. I expect the next song to be a random song from the playlist I opened, but instead silence. At the next red light I check the queue, and its empty; I now have to manually hit shuffle to play a new random song.

Reproduction steps:

  1. Select a playlist.
  2. Select a song.
  3. Open queue, see that it’s empty.
  4. Wait for song to end.
  5. Nothing plays after.

Yes this is documented in another issue, due to limitations in AA and smart playlists, clicking a song will only play that song.

You need to use the play buttons at the top to play the full playlist.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Apologies I didn’t see the other issue; do you have the link to it? Would love to learn more about AA’s limitations.
