An the ability to randomise 'Recently Added Album'

Feature description:

The “Recently Added albums” feature is prominently displayed in the app and on Android Auto. However, it remains static until a new album is added.

For users who upload albums in large batches, it would be helpful to have an option to view random albums from the “Recently Added” list.

Problem solved:

It makes the view more dynamic
It limits scrolling in AA
It showcase albums that hidden after X albums are displayed

It would be great if we can define the period of new albums. Either by a date period or by days

Use smart playlists they are here exactly for that. Do whatever you want with your data and specific cases.

But the only option on the home page configuration is favourite playlist.

This will mean we have to create a smart playlist and then Mark as it favourite. Also, it will only list the tracks and not individual albums.

So that won’t work, I’m afraid

No it’s not read the docs, you can pin any playlist to the home page.

Ok. I can add Random albums to the homepage which is great news.

However, there’s no way to display them in AA.
Also, as it’s a playlist, i believe they will be displayed as tracks rather than albums.

If i am missing something then do let me know.

If you create album smart playlist then it display albums …

So take time to relax, read the docs before opening tons of posts please.

Ok. I added to favourites which then displayed it on AA.

But as expected, i can only see the tracks and not the album

An album smart playlist can’t display songs and you explicitly reported that album smart playlist did not display anything in AA.

You’ll need to decide or be at least a little cooperative.

Sorry if I’m not being clear or causing any confusion—that’s definitely not my intention. The app is fantastic!

For Android Auto: albums don’t show up when using the smart album playlist. I’ve submitted a separate request for this. Ideally, I’d like to view recently added albums on the app’s homepage and in Android Auto.

I’ve managed to get it working on the app, but there’s no way to see them in Android Auto. When I add the “Recently Added Albums” playlist to favorites, I can view the playlist in Android Auto. However, when I click on it, I can only play the songs without the option to see the albums within the playlist.

I hope that’s clear

You don’t need to add to favorites to browse playlists in AA.

And so everything works as expected, except the already requested non display of the playlist contents …

That’s correct. There’s an option to see the playlists.

Just coming back to this, and I know you are probably going to disagree, but the option to randomise recently added is still the best user experience.

Should you implement the ability to display albums for smart album playlists, it will require three clicks to see the content every time AA starts or navigate back to the home page. Whereas “recently added albums” is permanently on the home page.

Maybe a change to “organise your shortcuts”?

If your smart playlist is randomized, just use Google assistant to say play playlist XXXX and it will play a random recent added albums.

And there’s just 1 click difference to be able to fit exactly any need that you may have.

So no 1 click does not worth that I write and maintain code just for you and would not solve any other thing.

I don’t believe this change is just for me just because i am requesting it. It’s should be seen as an enhancement

I also don’t use Google voice.

Either way, i understand and respect that there will be work required and you need to prioritise your work load.

I do media center related apps since 14 years and millions users on the other app, I see what most major media center providers offers since I support most of them.

So I can assure you this is a very unique need specially when it’s already solvable inside the app for just 1 click, while no other app can provide this function …

And don’t worry I’m the bad guy for some people and will always be :slight_smile:

Hahahaha. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. It can’t be easy dealing with people and their needs. Hence why my last comment as i do respect your craft. I also won’t be easy to deal with.
