Feature description
Currently, cover art that has a transparent background just gets replaced with a black box where the transparency is.
Problem solved
Ideally if cover art has transparency, it should be respected in the now playing view. Additionally if the drop shadow could be adapted to fit the album art edges if it has transparency, that would be great.
Brought benefits
Allows the user to have cleaner looking album art if it has transparency.

You are correct that drop shadow will not confirm to the transparency though. I usually leave it off for that exact reason. Would definitely be neat if the shadow could be drawn dynamically, but that sounds like a lot of performance cost so I won’t hold my breath.

I’ve found that the reason why it isn’t working is because of the “High quality images” option. Turning it on fixes the issue. I’m using Navidrome and the album arts are standard PNG files.
