Feature description:
Currently if at least one track on an album contains an additional artist, the full artist line will be shown for all tracks.
I would like for this line to show only the additional artists. Composer (if enabled) followed by artists != albumartist
Problem solved:
Artist line ends up having a lot of redundant information. If artist names are long, the additional info may not even be visible.
Brought benefits:
Reduces clutter on the Album page. Easier to identify which tracks actually have additional artists.
Other application solutions:
Additional description and context:
“Always show artist name” setting is OFF in all cases.
Pic 1: The additional artist is only present in a single track. Can you tell which one? No, mainly because I have giant artist names so the relevant part gets cut off ![]()
Pic 2: Enabling “Show composers” makes this multi-line, but then I have a ton of text on every line so the additional artist still doesn’t stand out. (It’s track 7 btw)
Pic 3: More reasonable example to highlight the redundant data. The album artist is already shown at the top. Why repeat it in the track list? Replace it with “ft. __” much like composers have “By __ •”
I like consistency in most places in the UI but this is a case where imo it’s beneficial to have the extra line appear only when needed. I want to highlight that there is something different about these tracks.
