After having media paused for a while (and notification artwork displaying correctly), the notification in the media session section will sometimes display as if there is no album artwork.
Checking notification history, it appears Symfonium sent a notification a few minutes before I noticed the problem, so perhaps that was when it changed.
At this point, the homescreen widget still displays the artwork correctly.
I have taken a bug report when I noticed before doing anything else, which I will upload. I have also submitted logs from this point under ‘tobyburton96’.
I then tried to resume playback via the notification - the play button does not respond (ie. the play button does not change to pause), but playback resumes correctly.
When the song finished and the next song came on, again the notification did not update, it still displayed the original song without the album art. Again, the launcher widget behaves correctly here. I have taken a screen recording to illustrate what is happening at this point, when the song had already moved on to the next one. I have also submitted logs from this point named ‘tobyburton962’.
Interacting with the app, widget and notification does nothing to fix the notification. Swiping the app away from recents fixes the problem - the notification is now fully updated and functional, funnily enough now not in the first spot in the media session panel, although it was the last interacted with.
I have put my username in the description of the screen recording and bug report upload.
This sounds like a known older Android version bug that duplicate media sessions while it’s not possible. Leaving that phantom one. (The real one is probably visible if you scroll in the sessions)
From the research when first seen there’s not always workarounds, you can try to unpin media sessions.
Else if you don’t need media session like for AA you can disable media session in the settings.
And the dump you uploaded does not contains the logcat or nearly anything it should have.
We had this discussion before when I experienced the issue you’re describing commonly on Android 11. Disabling media session had a number of adverse consequences and your solution was to upgrade my Android version, and so I did.
Since upgrading to Android 12 I have not experienced this behaviour at all, until the last few versions of Symfonium.
I will check next time it happens whether there is an additional session by scrolling. I will also attempt to do the bug report via ADB - hopefully that will contain everything?
Hi, I had the issue reoccur. There was no second ‘real’ notification for symfonium present. It is definitely different to the leftover phantom notifications that occurred on Android 11. I wasn’t by my PC (I was out) but I’ve uploaded all the bug report files my phone spat out doing it on the device. I’ve sent a screen recording as well. There’s a chance they didn’t fully submit as I had poor signal but I think they did - let me know if I need to upload again.
The dump is still not correct, this is the file that list what the dump do not the actual dump. Do you take a file from the zip or something like that ?
