Ability to stream synced lyrics within a widget

Feature description:

Hi there,

Being able to stream synced lyrics within the app is a huge step for my ideal setup, and I’m so glad I found this app.

Well, now I have a secret dream but I am clueless about it being feasible, too specific, easy or not, etc.

well, actually, I know it’s specific and niche… but I prefer to ask!

I would like that synced lyrics are shown (and, well, synchronized) in a widget, the most useful being a widget on the lock screen.

Problem solved:

Not really a problem, mostly sugar. I am a native French speaker and while I mostly understand spoken english, it’s quite hard for me to follow lyrics, and it’s important for me sometimes to know if I can relate or not.

Brought benefits:

I imagine not understanding a part of a song, waking up my phone, tap “-10s” or just slide the timeline, and immediatly seeing lyrics. For me, it’s a wonderful, frictionless usage and I miss it almost everyday.

For the others… probably not?

Existing bricks:

  • I tested LockScreenWidgets, still in alpha phase and asking for a lot of dangerous permissions due to the way lock screen is protected, but a wonderful piece of software, works quite well !
  • I am aware of an app named KWGT that can create custom widgets: could it help?

Additional description and context:

While I am familiar with computing stuff, I really know nothing about Android, so if something is a anti-pattern well I’ll let it go.

Screenshots / Mockup:

Google have removed lock screen widgets since ages.

You can enable the keep screen on option when lyrics are shown that my prevent lock screen to activate.

As I mentionned the third-party app is able to restore lock-screen widgets, see pictuee attached!

This is not really lockscreen widgets, this is draw over other app widgets. With as you said all the security impacts of such things.

Ok I think I understand your point better; i.e. given that no “lock-screen widget” can exist without using hackish/potentially dangerous stuff, designing a widget which only makes sense in this context is pointless; is that it?

I’m still being curious about the difficulty of coding the widget itself, and if it could be added one day.

For example I found a KGWT widget with scrolling, dynamic offline lyrics (see below), but KGWT is bloated with ads, demanding dangerous perms and closed-source : it is Symfonium which plays the song visible on the screenshot.
