Symfonium stopped connecting to Emby via Tailscale

App version

Production

Issue description

Yesterday Symfonium connected to home server via Tailscale and worked flawlessly. Today Symfonium is offline won’t connect at all, whereas Emby app connects and plays fine. I made no changes in home Windows server or Pixel phone. I have tried through multiple external networks (AT&T cell, several public wifi networks) with no success. I rebooted Tailscale and confirmed IP connection settings in Symfonium but it won’t connect either via http or https. Again, connection to Emby server works fine in Emby app over Tailscale, but not in Symfonium app, just since yesterday with no apparent changes.

As you can imagine Symfonium was not updated during the night

2026-06-08 10:43:50.453 Verbose EmbyLogger <-- [603] HTTP FAILED: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: failed to connect to /192.168.0.236 (port 8096) from /10.146.234.147 (port 40300) after 5000ms

Check tailscale configuration, that’s outside of Symfonium support.

Turns out it wasn’t a Tailscale problem, as I was able to create a second Tailscale-only server entry with no problem at all. it’s apparently the ongoing problem I have experienced with Symfonium when switching between networks and server IPs. I’ll turn on debug logs and start from scratch, as this is a frequent problem when I go from listening at home on the home wifi network, switching to the car and listening via Android Auto on cellular network and Tailscale, and Symfonium seizes up and never switches and plays without a forced app stop. I’ll create a separate thread with a different title and new logs for clarity.
