### Issue description

When working on a draft with several _large_ images, the site may give one of two errors:

1. “Error 429 - Too Many Requests”

The image previews will usually fail to load (showing an empty frame) when this is about to happen. Then confirming any action (like saving the draft) will display this error.

Simply **refreshing the page** will usually let me continue what I was doing.

1. “Gateway Timeout” (Error 504)

I only run into this with my FULL COMBO theme. _ **Entirely my fault,** _ since many of the images contain multiple full-size screenshots, stitched together. I created this post mainly to make known a simple workaround:

**Workaround:** users can simply remove images until the draft has been successfully saved. On the Draft Review page ( **before** clicking “submit to moderation”), users can then re-upload the images in small batches (only 1 or 2 images at a time) and _ **click “Save Changes” each time.** _ Once all images are uploaded, draft can be submitted as usual.

### Steps to reproduce

Gateway Timeout:

- Start a draft for a theme (new or update)
- upload several large images
- click “Save draft”
- wait for site to proceed
- instead arrive at Cloudflare’s Gateway Timeout screen

Too many requests:

- after the Gateway Timeout, navigate Back to the previous page
- scroll down to the image section
- note that many images fail to load previews
- attempt to remove an image
- arrive at NGINX error screen
- (image removal _ **is** _ successful though, if you refresh page to continue)

### Additional information

Seems to be “large image dimensions” that is the problem, _not_ “large file size”. I’ve gotten my 8 images down to a combined total of under 3MB, thinking that would help, but alas 😆

I mainly mention it because the site seems to re-process the images (and thus timeout) even when I have made no changes to them. The images from the previous version are pre-loaded when drafting an update and I have to actually remove them to get my draft to save.

I keep my files handy so I don’t mind the workaround. Most users probably won’t run into this issue, so no need to fix it just for me. (I should probably downsize my images anyway. Hope I haven’t caused any problems on your end!)
