Star rating that updates id3 tag

Issue description

I moved from using rocket player, which has this capability, I read somewhere that this software does as well, I want it to update id3 tag for the star rating, but when I give it a value it appears to be isolated from that. am I missing a setting ?

Symfonium does not edit your local files at all, so it will not update the Ratings tag.

For server-based providers (e.g. Navidrome) I think the rating change may be synced back to the server and then the server updates the tag itself. But Symfonium never does so directly.

Personally, since I am still rating my library, I have made Smart Playlists for each USER rating (not “Rating”, which is read from the tag) value. When I’m ready to update tags, I then export these to *.m3u8 files which can be loaded into Mp3tag (on PC). This lets me “filter” tracks and batch-set the ratings.

thanks for the recommendation, I got the smart playlist to show my updates, will utilize that for now.

Hi, would you mind explaining a bit more about how you do this please?

I’d like to try just using my local files rather than having a server in the background but I would miss the ratings syncing back to local files on my PC.

I use MP3tag a lot so hopefully this could work for me
