I am using Symfonium also to listen to audiobooks and I use resume points to resume an audiobook where I left often. Sometimes when I open the audiobook in Symfonium, there is no option to resume.
Logs:
Upload description: Vbs resume
Additional information:
I cannot reproduce it reliable but I guess the more other music you switch to after listening to an audiobook the more likely it is that you lose the resume point.
I also use profiles to switch between different sets of libraries.
Reproduction steps:
Listen to an audiobook
Stop listening to an audiobook
Listen to several other audio files (possibly from other libraries too)
Open the audio book again in the next evening
Find resume button not being offered (just missing from the UI)
Resume points are missing if the position is outside of saving them from your settings. Or the position is lost by the server and so lost after a sync.
I don’t see a max percentage related to resume position. But I have min position on 10 seconds which is probably the default. So, when I assume this relates to an album (and not to individual tracks), then it should be fine and not the reason for the problem.
But it happened to me also in the mid of an album, so also a max percentage setting could not be the problem.
In my experience, for bugs that only happen sporadically, getting them reproduced is the hardest part of the job.
Is it possible that a resume position is lost when playing too many other tracks/albums after it? That’s at least how it feels to me.
The automatically saved queues (which would also allow me to resume an album) are also discarded after too many other queues have been created, right? Those two resume point mechanims are not related, right?
Ahh okay, it reads “Min. percentage before marking as played”. I didn’t realize that it is also related to resume point but surely makes sense. The min option does mention resume point explicitly though.
Anyway, it is set to 95% (probably again the default) so it should also be fine.
Sorry man, I actually overlooked that part in your answer. Really no reason to freak out please.
But then it could actually be the reason for the problem: The problem is that my audiobooks are usually separated into short tracks of like 3 to 5 minutes. So, when I pause the book and I just happen to be within the first 10 seconds or withing the last 5% of a given track then I get no resume point, which is sad.
Okay, so I learned the resume points are always track-based. But the resume button in the album view seems to targeting the album and not a specific track. Would be really nice to also have a resume point which is not related to tracks but is bound to an album.
Not true, I did not say the settings are fine after I learned the resume points are track-based. And again my apologies for the sentence that I have missed.
What settings should I put? My only idea would be to set min to “0 seconds” and max to “100%” which means a track is never marked as played and every track will stay forever in “currently playing” state, no?
You did in each post before I had to repeat again and read the track part So yes I get bothered because of those, the order of posts is important
And yes you put 0 and 99 as 100 is not possible yet. That’s the minimal values, not the max, when a file is fully played then it does not have a resume point obviously.
Okay, i wil try that, thank you. That really could be the reason for my lost resume points.I will set those values and see if it will still happen. It would still happen even with those settings when I happen to pause/stop the audiobook in he last 1% of a track, right? Well, should happen really rarely I guess.
But still, having album-based resume points would be really nice
