Search doesn't show any results, but browsing by folders works

Issue description:

Hello! I can’t seem to get the search to work properly and I’d love to figure it out so I can find what I’m looking for easier.

My setup: I’m using Symfonium on an Android phone, connecting to Subsonic (actually, Airsonic, which is a Subsonic fork) off of my NAS).

What works: I like how my music is organized [such as Music > Hip Hop > Atmosphere > (2001) Lucy Ford], so I generally use the “file” browse feature. I can click on “Subsonic” under Media providers, then navigate where I want from there

What doesn’t work: Seemingly anything that relies on ID3 tags on my MP3s (and yes, I do tag all my music that more or less matches the folder structure above, so Genre, Artist, etc.).

  • Search: No matter what I do, no results are ever returned
  • Home Page: None of the options (Recently added albums, Rediscover Albums, etc.) show anything.
  • Library: None of the options (All albums, Genres, All Artists) show anything. Well, I guess “Files” works, but that’s the browse feature I mentioned that I use above.

Am I missing something? All these things use ID3 tags to search and categorize I imagine, so is there an indexing option I need to do or something?

Thank you!

You probably missed the messages about enabling slow compatibility mode.

You might want to use a more up to date server like Navidrome or LMS GitHub - epoupon/lms: Lightweight Music Server. Access your self-hosted music using a web interface.

Thanks for the reply! I did miss the message about enabling slow compatibility mode (I’m new to this forum, maybe that’s why?). I can’t seem to find it, I’m sorry…any chance you have the information available?

In regards to Navidrome, I did try that once but didn’t like it much, but now that you say it I think it’s worth a shot because I can have that and Airsonic running and use Navidrome as needed. I mostly just really like certain things about Airsonic (the web UI, folder browsing / not fully dependent on ID3 tags, it sorts the way I want, etc.). Thanks for the recommendation, I will try that out as well.

The setting is inside the provider settings and it’s clearly shown and stated inside the application when you add the provider.
