An option to switch the priority of art and playback queue on the now playing screen. Instead of showing album/track art and playback controls (and swipe up to show the hidden queue), the option would place the art in the swipe up screen and put the more useful and informative playback queue up front on the main Now Playing view.
I see from this page here: Settings - Now playing - Expanded player that showing the queue may be possible on a tablet in horisontal orientation, but in my view this is even more important on the smaller screen where the not-very-useful album art takes up too much valuable space.
Problem solved
When I pick up the phone to look at the now playing screen, I want to see which song is up next, not admire the art.
Brought benefits
Less annoyance by not having to swipe for the useful stuff.
Other application solutions
Vinyl does this slightly better by having part of the “Up next” queue visible, but it still prioritizes the art (or a placeholder) unnecessarily (in my opinion). See screenshot.
Yeah, I did see that. IMO this feature is just as important in portrait mode, especially on the limited real estate of a phone. I’ll add that using a phone, one is often one the move and may not have the time to fiddle with the phone, making it rather annoying to have the art show before the “up next” queue. Typical use case for me is listening to music while mowing the lawn.
Why the “big album art” view has become the default on every single music app out there I will never understand. I get it if you’re using it on a TV or a wall mounted tablet or something, where you might actually look at the art.
BTW, I picked up this app after seeing that it was developed by the same developer as the excellent Yatse remote control app, and I’m liking many things about Symfonium. There are two features I’ve always wanted from a music app, and this, ie. an optional Now Playing screen with the queue instead of art, is one of them. I know you aren’t shy about heaping features and options on your apps, so I’m holding out hope for this one.
