### App version

Production

### Issue description

My desired flow is “Wi-Fi/server available → play through Favorites → pre-cache upcoming songs → lose connection → continue playing cached songs → reconnect later → replenish the future queue and discard older cached songs.”

I tried both using rolling cache, pre-cache and a combination via the “add playback cached media to offline rolling cache” option. Both methods end up eventually skipping songs that aren’t actually cached in my queue, then stopping saying “Too many errors”, leaving me musicless on my commute to/from work.

I’m wanting to make my local server that I connect to frequently enough feel like fully remote playback.

Is this flow possible with Symfonium?

Sorry if it’s been asked. I looked for quite a while and didn’t see anything obviously the same as this.

### Device type

Phone

### Media provider

Jellyfin

### Steps to reproduce

Cache using pre-cache or rolling cache,
Play music for a while
Connect to the server periodically
See if it ever stops playing while offline.

### Additional information

Jellyfin 10.11.11
Symfonium 15.0.1 (127798)

Sorry but I’m no sure exactly what you are asking for and what exactly the issue is.

You probably can achieve your needs with a smart playlist with auto cache.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried using the smart playlist just now and put the max item count to 75 (I’m assuming that is how many songs to cache), and it ended up downloading hundreds of songs. I don’t want it to cache my whole favorites list.

If the smart playlist should work as I need, how do I get it to limit the downloads?

I still have no idea what you want to achieve to you can set a limit of items in the smart playlists.

You may not know what I’m asking, but I think you helped regardless. The smart playlist track limit I set before looks like it just didn’t take. I set it again, and it looks like it only downloads the number I set. Before, it went wild downloading hundreds of songs before I could stop it. I will know if it runs out of cached songs within a few days, to see if it re-populates the cached songs after I listen to them all.

I’ll reply back if not. Thanks for your help!

I thought that you had solved it when I saw the download manager pop up on my phone for the first time.

Now I’m struggling to find a way to get a continuous playlist.

What is happening now is that it finds a matching list of random songs that match the filter, then plays through that playlist but never adds songs to the end of the smart playlist. Even when I’m connected to the server. When I look at the smart playlist, it shows all the songs I already listened to. I expected those to move into the rolling cache and add new songs to the cache at the end of the playlist.

How can I get it to cache songs to the end of an auto smart playlist as I make my way through it?
