Like the title says it will just decide to stop playing and I can’t figure out what ia happening. Same files played earlier and they play fine through the navidrome wwb UI. No errors in the navidrome logs

The files are supposed to be offline cached but not present anymore.
Either some external tools deleted, them or some security tool, or unmounted sdcard.
Shouldnt it fallback to refetching the files if local cache is not available

No, only from playback cache.
If it’s offline cached people may want to avoid network usage and associated cost / battery usage and automatic return to network would be very bad.
