Navidrome displays the text of the COMMENT tag on the album page (along with highlighting URLs to make them clickable links). I see that the COMMENT tag is displayed in the detailed information for the track (inside a menu), but I’m requesting that it be available for Albums, most likely included among the available tags in the bottom showing Label, Date Released, etc.
Problem solved:
It allows use of the COMMENT tag to display album information/links
Brought benefits:
Many artists use this to link to their Bandcamp or other storefronts; I’m planning to use it to link to an external host for liner notes/booklets (unless that functionality is somewhere in Symfonium and I just haven’t seen it).
Other application solutions:
Navidrome does this by default and I’m pretty happy with their implementation.
I think something might be not working. I updated the description tag to contain the link to the booklet, but the field does not show on the Album screen (where I would expect based on the visibility settings). It does, however, display under the Track details labelled as “Comment”.
I put through the request (thanks for the tip) and am getting some minor pushback. Do you happen to have the “chapter and verse” link documenting that the standard expects both Comment (to apply to tracks) and Description (to apply to albums)?
The initial feedback I got is that Picard doesn’t include Description tags, so they don’t exist as part of the standard.
