Landscape background overlay style for home rows using the List display mode

Feature description

On 14.1.0, when a home row is set to the List display mode, the Landscape background overlay style is not selectable. It appears to be available only when the display mode is Row. I’d like that style (and Landscape overlay) to also be selectable for List, so the items stack vertically as full-width landscape cards with the artwork as background rather than as a horizontally scrolling row.

Problem solved

I use a Recently added albums row on my home screen. The Row display mode gives the visual style I want but limits how many items are visible at a glance and requires horizontal scrolling. The List display mode gives the vertical stacking I want but only offers thumbnail-style items. There’s currently no way to get vertical stacking with the landscape background overlay presentation.

Brought benefits

Lets the home screen use one visual language for its featured rows regardless of scroll direction, and makes better use of vertical space on a phone for rows

The “Size” takes a little playing with, but Multiline Row can mostly achieve what you are after:

The trick is to make sure “Max items” is less than or equal to “Rows”. This ensures that you get a single column instead of multiple. Then adjust the “Size” until it fills the width of your screen.

You are limited to 12 items, since that is the max value for the “Rows” option. But as long as you don’t need more than 12 items to show, this setup should do what you asked.
