Lack of notification on One UI 8

Issue description

I have no notification when I open the app, play music and go off the app.
I expect to have a notification that I can go into another app and manage, next/previous, etc.
Restarted my phone

Navidrome

Steps to reproduce

  1. install the app from play store
  2. sync your library with navidrome/subsonic
  3. play a song
  4. go off the app
  5. have no notif

Additional information

samsung s22 ultra
self hosting navidrome
I’ve changed zero settings other than the interface and some session related setting.

Well as per the doc media session is the notification on A droid 12+

Even if that setting is on or off I get no notification when leaving the app.

I tried with a different music app and have no issues but I’m not sure how that creates it

I have notifications turned on and no battery killing settings are enabled

Uninstall / reinstall without changing any settings and see that it works. If not you have probably hidden it in the phone settings.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled and only synced files from my phone instead.

I had to manually turn off battery restrictions, and on first app install the notifications are blocked.

I turned notifs on manually as well as all options, and still I don’t get any notification of a player when I play music and go off the app.

You are probably mixing things here. As said on Android 13+ media session handle the OS surfacing playback not an actual notification as you may be used to.

Expand the full device status bar and search for the media part of it.

Ahhh okay, so it’ll be in the expanded view always and never a notification?

It’s not showing on the lock screen either, is that normal too?

I can’t do phone related support, there’s probably some settings on the OS to show it.

Just for thread’s sake, it was to do with the “now bar” in Samsung’s settings.

Enable it

That made it show in the notifications for me.
