Improper song plays are triggered when I connect bluetooth headphones

Issue description:

I noticed a lot of incorrect counts in Playback Reporting and determined the cause was symfonium. I was just now able to recreate when this happens. When I turn on my bluetooth headphones (or probably any bluetooth device), it activates the player notification from symfonium, which then triggers jellyfin to count whatever song that is as a play, with a PlayDuration that’s pretty realistic, shown below. Perhaps there’s a setting I can disable to stop this, but my song counts are pretty messed up and hard to clean up as a result. Or perhaps there’s a way to stop it from counting as a pay since it’s not actually playing the song, but may still be querying Jellyfin, not sure how it works on the backend. Thanks for the great app.

Connecting my bluetooth headphones. Probably other devices as well.

Media provider:

Jellyfin

There’s no playcount report in those logs

You are probably using a plugin that use bad signals to do stuff, there’s a couple of duplicates here and since you are on samsung you can enable the option to disable media session restore to reduce that plugin issue due to your phone restarting the app for no reasons.

What plugins do you mean? Symfonium plugins or Jellyfin plugins?

Jellyfin side. What are you using that create those plays and where do you see them ?

I just have the default Playback Reporting plugin, in Jellyfin 10.11.7 for this reporting

So it’s a plugin and in Jellyfin

You need to see with them, what they use and do with the events they receive.

I think I understand what you’re saying, the plugin (which has been historically buggy), is counting it as a play when symfonium pulls up the last played song. I guess I’ll try to turn off that setting in my phone then since I doubt the Playback Reporting will be fixed any time soon.
