How can I make tags be rescanned?

Issue description:

My collection of mp3s originates on my computer where I tag them with Beets and once it gets tagged I copy it over to my SD card in my phone where I use Symfonium. I have just resolved an issue with the collection on my computer where ‘orignalreleasetime’ tag was getting populated with ‘0000’ while the year tag had the date. In Symfonium this caused the dates to be blank.
I have now fixed this and have gone through and removed this ‘originalreleasetime’ tag on the SD card where it has a value of ‘0000’. However, if I sync the local device in Symfonium, the changes are not reflected and I still have loads of albums showing up with a year of 0 (when I go to Library > Years).

Can I make Symfonium rescan the tags? I don’t want to remove the library and re-add it from scratch because I think I’ll lose my play counts, playlists, recently played etc.

It’s automatic if the timestamp of the files are changed, else you clear tag cache in the provider settings.

Ah I see, I deliberately didn’t change the timestamp because I often use the recently added order.

Does clearing the tag cache remove the metadata (counts etc)?

No of you use the clear tag cache button and not some other things

In all cases backups can save everything.

Perfect, thank you for the help.

An alternative to preserving the file creation/modification dates (without the disadvantages) for tracking purposes (Date Added) is to use the ENCODINGTIME tag, which is compatible with both Symfonium and Lightweight Music Server.
