The “Expand player automatically” feature under “Navigation and media start” is odd, sometimes, maybe once every 5-10 songs I choose it just doesn’t work, and even when it does the animation is extremely jittery as it expands. Hopefully it’s something that can be tweaked, it’s a great feature.
Sorry I just found the time to upload a video, here’s an example of what’s happening:
Notice at around 0:35 and 1:05 the selected songs don’t auto-expand. There’s also a slight hitch/stutter many times when the Now Playing does pop up, not sure if it comes across well in the video, but I don’t believe it should be happening on a OnePlus 13, maybe the pop-in animation can be slowed by a few frames or something…
This was just a demo that every X amount of songs 1 will not auto-expand, seems to happen between every 10-20 plays roughly.
So yes if your spamming while something is already playing this can happen. You prefer a couple of rare miss versus the player opening for no reason during track changes.
Just to be clear, this happens during normal use. The only reason I spammed it in the video is to speed things up so the video wasn’t too long. The reason I discovered it in the first place is because I was using the app completely normally, selecting a song every few minutes and I noticed every once in a while 1 wouldn’t load the Now Playing, also the choppy way it will sometimes do it. If you’re not interested in looking into it that’s fine, you have your own priorities, but I wanna be sure to convey this isn’t some user error or forced behavior on my end.
BlackPlayer EX, the previous app I used, (and still likely current because of some shortcomings of this app), never once in the 3 or 4 years that I used it, gave me an issue with its Now Playing not working or popping up smoothly, so there is something to be said about the implementation. Unfortunately that app has other problems and seems to be largely abandoned.
I’ll be sure to fix those well described shortcomings
Symfonium is a very different app, with different constraints and different choices.
And yes optimizing an use case that less than 0.1% of users use at the expense of the 99.9% other is not a priority sorry.
I’ll see if I can add a quick hack without impacting the other users.
