Feature description:
Similarly to swiping up to open the expanded player, the addition of swiping down on the compact player could trigger an action. I am more interested in the use of swiping down to stop the playing queue, but I can see this gesture being used for other shortcuts such as opening the queue, adding the current song to a playlist or excluding it to from personal mixes. These are just a few actions I can think of right now.
I’m aware there is already an option to choose which buttons you could add to the compact player including a stop button, however I find those same options to being limited to actions that mainly focus on the current playing track.
Problem solved:
There is no problem that this feature would solve in all honesty.
Brought benefits:
The benefit I can see this feature bring is giving users some more control with their music listening experience from just using the compact player. The addition of a swipe down gesture with different actions to set it as can fit the different needs of various users. These same needs aren’t limited to the few I had already mentioned above, I’m sure there is more be thought of.
Other application solutions:
When I used to use Oto Music it would have this swipe down gesture already on their compact player. However, it is only limited to stop the playing music queue.
Additional description and context:
I do not mind having to set the stop button to being visible on the compact player, but I would find using the player to be much more fluid to have this extra gesture along with what is already added (swiping up to see the main player, and swiping left or right to skip tracks).
