# Change replay gain mode based on what's playing

### Feature description

It would be quite nice to have a “smart” replay gain mode that uses album gain when playing a full album, but uses track gain for songs added by smart flow/queue. Playlists would probably always use track gain.

### Problem solved

Add a “smart” replay gain mode that uses either track or album gain depending on what’s playing.

### Brought benefits

Improved loudness consistency after album ends and smart queue begins.

Does the “Automatic” setting not already do this?

> The Automatic mode switches between track and album ReplayGain based on how playback was started. For example, it uses track gain for a playlist and album gain when playing an album.

I admit I don’t know how Smart Queue/Flow tracks are handled, but I would assume those would use the track gain.
