Issue description
When I use Symfonium on Android and choose “Cast to Plexamp” on my Mac, playback works correctly on Plexamp, but Plex appears to maintain two active playback sessions for the same song:
- The original Symfonium Android session
- The Plexamp Mac session receiving the cast
As a result, Plex’s dashboard shows the track as currently playing twice, once under Symfonium and once under Plexamp.
This also appears to cause duplicate scrobbles to Last.fm, because the two Plex playback sessions are both reported as plays.
Expected behavior
After casting, the Symfonium playback session should be replaced/handed off to the Plexamp session, or otherwise stop reporting itself as an active playback session.
I would expect Plex to see one playback session / one play, represented by Plexamp on the Mac.
Actual behavior
Both sessions remain visible:
- Symfonium — Android: still shown as playing
- Plexamp — Mac: shown as playing the same track
This results in Plex/Last.fm treating the playback as two separate plays, producing duplicate scrobbles.

- Open Symfonium on Android.
- Start playing a track normally on Symfonium.
- Select Cast and choose Plexamp running on Mac.
- Playback successfully transfers to Plexamp.
- Check the Plex dashboard > Now playing.
