Bug:Renaming playlists in Navidrome is not synchronised

App version

Production

Issue description

Hello everyone,

I’m currently testing Synfonium on Android (Pixel 8 Pro) and have connected it to my Navidrome server. So far, most things are working fine. However, when I rename a playlist on Navidrome, this change isn’t synchronised with Synfonium. Another Synfonium user from the Navidrome Discord tried this on their system and got the same result.

I’d say this is a bug.

Best regards

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a playlist in Navidrome
  2. Connect Synfonium
  3. Rename the playlist in Navidrome
  4. Synfonium always displays the old name

We were able to reproduce it easily on two different systems. I don’t think a log is necessary

I think lying should not be necessary either and yet here you are …

There’s 4 different ways to import playlist so yes the f…g logs are mandatory;)

Because something that take you 2 seconds to reproduce would take me 30min maybe more.

If all users are like you then all I do is try to reproduce issues without enough details instead of actually fixing issues and improving the app

So I suggest you remove the  and provide the logs, and just pretend that you respect my time and me just a little ;);):)

I enabled debug mode, completely closed the app using Android’s app controls, and then started it again. The “Automatically import playlists” option is enabled in the settings. I uploaded the log through the app

You need to sync for the changes to happen.

I’ve already run the sync several times. But that was before I enabled debug mode. Should I sync again and upload the log once more?

Yes I need logs reproducing the issue. (And the details about what playlist is suppsoed to change name)

Started the synchronisation in Sync Manager, uploaded the log. It affects the playlists:

0010: …
to
0085: …

So there are quite a few.

One more thing: I’m currently using the trial version of the app, so I’ve only had it for three days to test it out. I don’t know all the options yet. I’ve just discovered that there’s an ‘Import’ button at the top of the ‘Playlists’ section. When I tap it, I can see the renamed playlists. But no matter what I select (Online | Offline) –> ‘Import All’, the situation remains the same. Only the old names are displayed.

Yeah your server does not return an updated changed timestamp on rename …

Will add a special case to force sync the name on name change despite this.

It sounds a bit as though Navidrome isn’t sending complete data? Should I report this as a bug to Navidrome?

It’s more the usual Subsonic API definition not very clear. Deluan probably only consider the timestamp as the content change and not metadata changes.

OK. What happens if I change a playlist from ‘Private’ to ‘Public’ in Navidrome? Will it be synchronised? I’d also like to install the trial version of Symfonium at my wife’s place in the next few days.

I don’t know if this has anything to do with the problem. Ten minutes ago, I moved a track from one playlist to another on the server and deleted a test playlist from the server as well. However, neither of these changes has appeared in Synfonium. Do I just need to be more patient, or do I have to sync manually every time?

You need to sync unless the playlists are online first and they are updated when opening them if timestamp is updated server side correctly.

The “Online” thing is my problem. Where do I set that? When I click “Import” at the top of the playlists, Subsonic says “offline.” I can select “online,” but it doesn’t save. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. But what?

I find it interesting that the list in this dialog (under: Offline | Read-only | Online) shows the playlists as they currently are. The deleted test playlist isn’t visible here.

You choose at the import time and it’s applied else you change it inside the 3 dots menu.

Deleted playlists are not automatically deleted. Symfonium is offline first and will always priorise no data loss.

I enabled automatic playlist import under Media Management → Subsonic (see image 1). However, the app still shows “offline” in the import dialog (see image 2).

It’s all in the docs, but again, the import dialog allows to select the mode when you will manually import the playlist. To change a playlist mode 3 dots menu then the options

I have read the manual, and it only confirms that I’m doing everything correctly — it just doesn’t work.

In Sync Manager → Subsonic (there is only this one connection) → Synchronize. This shouldn’t even be necessary, as I have already done it several times. During the sync, it correctly counts up the albums, tracks, etc.

After that, I go to Manage Media Providers → Subsonic (again, there is only this one) → the three dots → Edit. Here, the “Automatically import playlists” option is enabled.

Just to be sure, I tried again: Manage Media Providers → Subsonic → the three dots → Synchronize. Nothing seems to happen here.

Finally: Playlists → Import → Subsonic → Online → Import All.
(This step shouldn’t even be necessary because of the setting mentioned above.)

The result: A playlist that I previously deleted in Navidrome is still there.

I honestly don’t know what else I could try.

Just take a step back and read what I wrote earlier ?
