Backup & Restore issues

Issue description:

  1. No favorites songs
  2. Unable to play music in playlists. “preparing your medias, please wait” & “Error playing media, ensure that your player supports it”

I copied all the music folders to the new device, and the directory structure is the same. After restoring the data, all the music in Tracks can be played, but the Playlists cannot be played, and I can’t import the favorites songs to the new device.

I copied the music folder on my original phone to my new phone.
In the screenshot, the music of the playlist does not show thumbnails and cannot be played.
 

Reproduction steps:

 

  1. Select Backup on the original phone, select all options (including tag cache, User data), set a password, and export the backup
  2. Send the backup file to my new phone
  3. Select Restore in the new phone, find the backup file, and select Restore
  4. After the restore is successful, I can play music in Track
  5. But the music in the playlist cannot be played, and there is no thumbnail or other information (the problem)

You added the provider with Android as file source and not the default wanted folder mode.

On the new device Android have attributed new IDs to the files and they can no more be matched.

Is there any way to match them? What does “default wanted folder mode” mean?

When you install the app is ask how to access the file. And you said to use the limited Android Media Store and not direct file access.

Currently there’s no way to properly auto match the new files on the new phone as Android does return internal numbers and not the proper actual files. And those numbers have changed.

Does this mean that I can’t get the playlist from the previous phone by backup & restore, I can only create the playlist manually on the new phone?

With the Android way yes.

Edit: I will add a possible workaround to at least support playback in some cases but not guarantee it will work for you.
