When playing audio through synfonium, if I click the pause button to pause the music playback, after ~3 seconds it will mute all audio output from other apps. I use IG voice messages a lot, and this bug prevents me from using symfonium as I now have to try and listen to voice messages through media playback, or I have to disconnect android auto to listen to the voice messages in my car.

Reproduction steps:
connect to android auto
play music from symfonium
attempt to listen to voice message on instagram → symfonium output will not pause automatically, mixing the audio from IG and the synfonium audio
pause symfonium playback → audio from instagram will continue playing but muted
Symfonium does not receive any audio focus request so have no way to know what happens outside.
Same for muting other apps, there’s no volume change so this is not really possible.
This look more like an Instagram / Android Auto bug here.
You can try to disable fades, and change some playback settings like prefer internal decoder, since there’s no playback start I can’t know your settings.
I’m equally confused by this, but I can tell you that it is indeed happening and I welcome you to try it yourself. I am in the process of migrating from spotify to symfonium, and what happens with symfonium audio playback is 100% different from spotify playback.
If you play music with spotify → open instagram → play an audio message → the audio from spotify will pause while the IG audio plays
if you do the same with symfonium → the audio will continue playing under the voice message.
Maybe this isn’t a symfonium bug, but this behavior is limited to the symfonium app. I have tested this with pandora, spotify, and i<3radio and each of the apps pauses audio when another audip stream is playing, synfonium is the only app that continues to play overlapping audio in the background.
Have you changed the audio focus settings in the app? If you leave the default of Duck and do not check the permanent audio focus loss Symfonium behave as all other apps.
I just checked and it is indeed set to “Duck”. I have only had symfonium installed a few days and have not really adjusted any settings outside of connecting it to my navidrome subsonic api
Please provide logs containing: Enable logs, force kill the app (full not just swipe away),
Reproduce outside of Android Auto. Stop playback. Reproduce inside Android Auto.
I went ahead and re-uploaded the logs. Both inside and outside of Android auto the same scenario occurs: after force closing the app and reopening it, playing audio on symfonium, and then playing an audio message on Instagram, the ducking works appropriately where the audio of symfonium stops playing. However, symfonium does not resume if the Instagram audio message is terminated or paused. I have to manually click play to get symfonium to resum playback. Upon clicking play, symfonium no longer ducks behind the other audio and manually pausing symfonium prevents the audio of Instagram from being heard
