Hi. I wanted to ask if we could get a way to re-order relase types in the artist page.
Problem solved:
It doesn’t really solve a problem, but it would be nice for customization as for each person it makes sense to prioritize some relase types. For example I would love EPs to come before Singles.
Brought benefits:
It would help mostly with customization and visibility.
I guess most people have their tags in one language. You can just use the programming language’s default sorting implementation, if people don’t like that sorting, they can disable it. Doesn’t even have to be enabled by default.
There’s really no drawback to adding such option in my opinion. It is just sorting a list…
Well, there’s not one single perfect solution, I guess.
One thing I’m wondering about, though, is what kind of sorting the release type tag follows now. I have one artist with a few extra types, and the order becomes Albums - Singles - EPs - Soundtracks - Mix - Bootleg. I don’t understand the logic, as it seems neither alphabetical or based on amount of releases for the types.
Of course, all this is not hugely important in the grand scheme of things, but having EPs sorted above singles would be neat, at least.
Yep, it just makes sense for eps to go after albums, since it goes from more songs in a release to less. They are basically a mini-album, and usually an ep or album contains a single, so you get to see “more” by scrolling less.
I like collecting singles and usually end up with hundreds of them, for example, I have 135 deadmau5 singles and it takes a while to get to the EPs. Having albums (and compilations, as it is now) then ep then singles then the rest seems like a good enough balance, specially because artists usually have no more than a few EPs compared to singles.
Lol was actually trying to figure out how to do this for so long. Appreciate moving the EP above Singles. I actually wanted to move my Mixtapes release type above singles as well. I agree with the sentiment of going from larger releases to smaller ones like EPs and Singles.
