Feature description
Hi,
I use Symfonium on an OLED TV mainly for music playback.
I would like to request an option to enable a screen saver during playback, for example:
a full black screen,
a dimmed screen,
or a simple moving “now playing” screen saver.
This would be very useful on OLED TVs, because when listening to music for a long time, I do not need static interface elements visible on the screen. A black screen or low-impact screen saver would be more comfortable and could help reduce burn-in risk.
Ideally, this could be available as:
a manual button in the player,
an automatic option after a few seconds of inactivity,
Add a screen saver / black screen mode during music playback on Android TV.
The feature could offer:
- a full black screen,
- a dimmed screen,
- or a simple moving “Now Playing” screen saver.
It could be activated manually from the player and/or automatically after a configurable period of inactivity.
Problem solved
When listening to music on an OLED TV for a long time, the Symfonium player interface stays visible with static elements such as album art, controls and text.
During audio-only listening, the interface is not needed, and static content on an OLED screen should be avoided for extended periods.
Brought benefits
This would provide a more comfortable audio-only listening experience on TV devices.
A black screen or low-impact screen saver would reduce the amount of static content displayed on OLED panels and could help reduce the risk of image retention or burn-in. It would also save power compared with displaying the full player interface.
Device type
Android TV
Additional description and context
My device is an NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019) connected to an OLED TV.
I mainly use Symfonium for music playback on the TV. A quick action in the player to enable/disable the black screen would be especially useful. An optional automatic activation after, for example, 30 seconds, 1 minute or 5 minutes without remote interaction would also be welcome.
