Add Filter to Album Tags Page

Feature description:

I am requesting a filter option to be added to the Album Tags page. This would function similarly to the filter options available on the Albums page. I host AudioDramas and Audiobooks in separate libraries on Plex and organize them into their series using Album Tags. However, the current implementation of the Album Tags page displays collections from both my AudioDramas and Audiobooks libraries in a single list, without any way to separate them.

Additionally, I would like the Album Tags page to adopt the same visual style as the Albums page, including, if possible displaying collection posters from Plex as the art for Album Tags cards.

Problem solved:

The lack of filtering options on the Album Tags page creates organizational challenges for users with multiple libraries. For example, when hosting both AudioDramas and Audiobooks libraries, all collections are lumped together without a way to distinguish between them.

Adding a filter option would solve this problem by enabling users to separate collections based on their libraries or other criteria, improving navigation and overall user experience.

Brought benefits:

This feature would benefit all users who rely on Album Tags for organizing content. It would enhance usability by allowing better categorization and filtering of tagged albums, reducing clutter and confusion. The visual update (using collection posters as art and having the same card style as the Albums page) would also improve aesthetic consistency across pages, providing a more polished and intuitive interface.

Other application solutions:

Additional description and context:

Ideally, it would be great to have the Albums page replicated to the Albums Tags page so that they both have the same features, layout and card styling.
If that’s not feasible, I would be happy just to have a filter option available to separate libraries on the Album Tags page.

This is how the current Album Tags page looks compared to the Albums page

Here is a rough Mockup of what the Album Tags page could look like:

I like this idea. Ironically I wanted something similar for the Track Tags page but for different reasons.

I dont think copying Album view is the solution though. In theory an album tag could apply to multiple albums across multiple libraries like your case here. So what image does Symfonium display?

I could see maybe implementing one of the display options currently available in playlist view: Grid / Card grid

I’d suggest trying other display modes for the time being as you’d at least be able to see more Series at once.

This is not really possible as Symfonium tags are cross servers and use the lowest common denominator, so it’s normalized and not tied to libraries and can’t be filtered like that.

They are more meant as a navigation way when you are already in an album from a tag and want the other things with the same tag.

You make a good point about the possibility of conflicting collection covers from various libraries mista_j. In my case, I am quite strict about maintinaing this kind of continuity across my libaries, so it wouldn’t be an issue, but upon reflection from your reply, I realize that this wouldn’t work for 90% of users.

The artwork and stylizing of the Album Tags page, was only really a bonus, my main hope was to get the filtering option, but as the tags are normalized then yeah, I understand that wouldn’t work at all.

It’s a shame, but I’m sure I’ll come up with some alternative method. Thanks for replies

For arguments sake, Let’s say album tags had the option to utilize smart filters or filter chips. If this was the case couldn’t @rebledude make distinct tags that would help to accomplish their goal? Filtering multiple libraries would just mean you need an album tag that somehow denotes which library an album belongs to.

Ex:
AudioDramas all have an album tag that is or includes “(A_D)”
AudioBooks all have an album tag that is or includes “(A_B)”

Then this becomes a bit simpler, No? Users saves a few smart filters & now in this instance one could view albums from specific libraries. @Tolriq
